Short Film
This short documentary follows the inspiring journey of Oshane Drews, a young, ambitious, and incredibly talented basketball player, as he rises through the first German Basketball League and trains with NBA stars at Summer League camps in Las Vegas.
What began as an impulsive idea turned into a two-year journey, a spontaneous trip to Vegas, and the start of a genuine friendship. Oshane gave me rare, honest access into his world, a world full of hard work, setbacks, and comebacks. He's one of the most determined and genuine people I’ve ever met and a true hustler who never gave up, no matter how many gaps he had to close along the way.
This film is special because it tells a deeply personal story of resilience, growth, and quiet strength. I'm beyond thankful to Oshane for letting me get so close and trusting me to tell his story.
Massive thanks to David Amata and Impact Basketball, the Rostock Seawolves, and Alba Berlin for their support. Big love to Yannis Panther, who put in countless hours on the edit, Christian Meyer for composing a powerful score, and Nadir Mansouri for creating the film’s iconic look.
Special thanks go to Nicklas Juntke-Krüger and Haze Film, Storyform Los Angeles, Felix Vollmann, Yenal Kahraman (Assistency), and Oshane’s mom for everything!
This project took endless hours of work, and every second was worth it.

OCEAN FRONT WALK
Los Angeles!
The city of dreams. No other place in the world stands for opportunities like LA. The home of the stars. From Marilyn Monroe to Brad Pitt - Hollywood has always been a symbol of success. Despite this fame and glamour, the strong desire for freedom gave birth to a unique subculture.
Modern skateboarding emerged in the 1970s during a severe drought, when surfers began experimenting with riding skateboards in empty swimming pools. The “Zephyr Skateboarding Team” was formed by local teens and surf shop owners in the Venice Beach and Santa Monica areas. These two beach neighborhoods became known as Dogtown.
Since then, the sport of skateboarding developed into a global trend that became Olympic and inspires a whole generation. Nowadays, global players like “Louis Vuitton” and “Nike” include urban culture in their marketing and designs.
I accompanied the successors of the legendary “Dogtown” skaters for a few months and captured their everyday life in “Venice Beach Skatepark”.

WAY OUT

“Way Out” tells the story of Ian Murphy, a streetball player from San Bernardino whose basketball journey took an unexpected turn. After receiving no college offers, he stepped away from the game and began working construction.
Everything changed when a video of him dunking in Timberlands and work clothes on a public court in Los Angeles went viral on TikTok. The moment introduced him to millions and opened a new path.
The film captures how Ian found his way back to basketball and built a new career on his own terms.
